The Western Interstate Energy Board (WIEB) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) in early September 2018 to hire a contractor for a new study. This study will model and explore the operational flexibility of the electric power system in the Western Interconnection in anticipation of a changing resource mix over the next 10- to 15-years. The study pursues an interconnection-wide approach to identify cost-effective steps to improve the operational flexibility of the grid. This project is supported by funding from WIEB, the State of Washington, the State of Oregon, and other funding partners. A description of the project can be obtained using the link below.
