On February 19, 2014 SPSC-CREPC-WIRAB held a webinar to examine DOE’s consultation draft for its next transmission congestion study. Under the Energy Policy Act of 2005, DOE must conduct a transmission congestion study every three years. Upon completion of such studies, the Secretary of Energy may designate geographic areas pertinent to relieving congestion or constraints as “national interest electric transmission corridors” (National Corridors). DOE must develop its congestion studies in consultation with the states and regional reliability entities.
