WIEB Webinar on The Role of Coal in the West

This Western Interstate Energy Board (WIEB) webinar focused on changes in the daily generation pattern of coal-fired generating units in the Western Interconnection over the 2001-2016 time period.  Benjamin Lim and Max Vilgalys presented findings from their analysis of hourly electric generation profiles contained in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) database.  This research is the result of a summer internship agreement between WIEB and the Precourt Institute for Energy, the Bill Lane Center for the American West, the Haas Center for Public Service, and Stanford in Government programs at Stanford University.
